Featured Streamer Program

Are you a League of Legends streamer? Fantastic! Making a living by playing League of Legends can be a life-changing experience. Whether you are a pro gamer or a showman, there is an audience out there that wants to watch you on the Fields of Justice. We at Riot Games love your enthusiasm and creativity, and in the interest of our players we wanted to create an official program that recognizes those streamers that spend their time making our community better while playing our game.

We want to help you promote your stream, so we put together this list of incentives to explain what we can offer streamers who engage their fellow players while maintaining the standards of the Summoner’s Code. There are two parts to the Streamer Program; Part One is the incentive system in the table below; Part Two is a code of conduct for our members. These content guidelines must be followed by anyone who wishes to become part of the Riot Streamer Program.

Riot Streamer Program – Code of Conduct

  • Follow the Summoner's code
  • Give us a way to contact you which works.
  • Keep your channel your own, and live.
  • Maintain an audience of 1,000,000 or more viewer minutes a month.
  • Be fair and considerate of others, and stay focused on making your content better.
  • If you advertise your stream as League of Legends, stay focused on our game.
  1. Commit to abide by the Summoner’s Code

The Summoner’s Code is a simple set of guidelines to help players maintain sportsmanlike behavior. Following the code is a good way to be a great citizen when interacting with our player community. As a person broadcasting to a large audience, it’s very important that you follow these rules because your example greatly influences your fans. Helping your fans become better players in both skill and attitude is not just a great social action; it also makes the game more enjoyable and grows your potential audience. As a streamer, you want each of your viewers to get more people into the game and into your stream, and to that end we all must work to cultivate our online community and help make it as friendly and accessible to other players as possible.

  2. Provide us with your contact information (IM, Skype, email, phone, etc)

In order to feature you and allow your stream to be promoted to our audience, it’s important we have a way to keep in touch with you at all times. This allows us to provide you feedback on your stream and also handle any potential issues, technical or otherwise, with your stream.

  3. Only one streamer should be allowed for a given channel and all content should be live.

There is a special format to a stream involving live chat and live communication with your audience. While we love it when our fans create broadcast content for later viewing, the streamer program is focused specifically on live content and as such any recorded content will only be promoted on a case-by-case basis.

  4. Retain over 1,000,000 viewer minutes/mo. for two consecutive months

To become a member of the Riot Streamer program you must retain a minimum amount of viewer minutes per month. The entry amount is about 105 concurrent viewers per minute, 8 hours a day, 5 days a week (approx.) This also determines, together with content quality and some other factors listed in your membership tier. Once a tier is achieved, you will retain it unless your viewership drops for a period of 3 consecutive months, or unless you do not abide by the streamer code of conduct.

  5. Behavior and content to avoid streaming

It’s a free world, and we believe in freedom of expression; however we also believe that what is shown on our site must meet a certain standard of quality. This is what makes League of Legends as successful as it is today, Because of this, we cannot have any of the following in a Riot-promoted stream:

    1. racism, discrimination (gender bias, homophobia, etc), pornography
    2. content relating to non-Riot games
    3. unsportsmanlike behavior
    4. behavior that threatens the growth of LoL as an eSport
    5. behavior that encourages poor behavior in others

Riot retains the right to determine what kind of behavior falls into these categories at its sole discretion, but you can get a gist of most of them from reading the Summoner’s Code.

  6. At this time we only accept streams from Twitch and Own3D

While we know many of you stream on several services, we are currently only set up to embed Own3D and Twitch streams. If this changes in the future, we will let you know.

  7. Membership in the program may be discontinued at any time.

While we don’t plan on it, the program and membership to it may be discontinued at any time for whatever reason Riot Games may feel is necessary.

  8. What constitues content related to non-Riot games?

Any content which shows content for a game which is not made by Riot. Some examples of this are: art, discussion posts, videos, in game footage, screenshots, etc.

  9. How long do streamer program applications take to process?

Applications are processed on a first come, first serve basis. Depending on your broadcast schedule and amount of content available, the process can take anywhere from a few days to a couple months. We will reach out to you after you submit your application if you meet our eligibility requirements.
